چکیده

Background: We evaluated the feasibility and accuracy of 11C–choline PET-CT/TRUS fusion-guided prostate biopsy in men with persistently elevated PSA and negative mpMRI or contraindication to MRI, after previous negative biopsy. Clinical data were part of a prospective on-going observational clinical study: “Diagnostic accuracy of target mpMRI/US fusion biopsy in patients with suspected prostate cancer after initial negative biopsy”. Patients with a negative biopsy and negative mpMRI (PI-RADS v.2 < 3) or absolute contraindications to MRI and persistently elevated PSA, were included. All patients underwent 11C–choline PET with dedicated acquisition of the pelvis and PET-CT/ TRUS-guided prostate biopsy by Bio-JetTM fusion system (D&K Technologies, Germany). The primary endpoint was to assess the accuracy of 11C–choline PET-CT to determine the presence and the topographical distribution of PCa.

Evidence-based guideline recommendations on multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of prostate cancer: A Cancer Care Ontario clinical practice guideline.

This clinical guideline focuses on: 1) the use of multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) in diagnosing clinically significant prostate cancer (CSPC) in patients with an elevated risk of CSPC and who are biopsy-naïve; and 2) the use of mpMRI in diagnosing CSPC in patients with a persistently elevated risk of having CSPC and who have a negative transrectal ultrasound (TRUS)-guided sys...

Assessment of free-hand transperineal targeted prostate biopsy using multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging-transrectal ultrasound fusion in Chinese men with prior negative biopsy and elevated prostate-specific antigen

BACKGROUND To evaluate the role of free-hand transperineal targeted prostate biopsy using multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging-transrectal ultrasound (mpMRI-TRUS) fusion in Chinese men with repeated biopsy. METHODS A total of 101 consecutive patients suspicious of prostate cancer (PCa) at the mpMRI scan and with prior negative biopsy and elevated PSA values were prospectively recruited ...

بررسی تشخیصی سرطان پروستات با روش TURP در بیماران با بیوپسی منفی قبلی و سطح بالای PSA و علایم ادراری تحتانی (LUTS) مثبت

Background & Aims: The use of TURP in detecting prostate cancer in patients with elevated PSA levels and positive lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) is controversial. In the present study we evaluated the role of TURP in detecting prostate cancer in these patients. Materials & Methods: In this cross-sectional study a total of 40 patients with elevated PSA levels, positive LUTS and negative 10-...

18F-Choline PET/MRI: The Additional Value of PET for MRI-Guided Transrectal Prostate Biopsies.

UNLABELLED We assessed the value of fusion (18)F-fluoromethylcholine ((18)F-choline) PET/MRI for image-guided (targeted) prostate biopsies to detect significant prostate cancer (Gleason ≥ 3 + 4) compared with standard (systematic 12-core) biopsies. METHODS Within an ongoing prospective clinical trial, hybrid (18)F-choline PET/CT and multiparametric 3T MRI (mpMRI) of the pelvis were performed ...

Repeat transrectal ultrasound biopsies with additional targeted cores according to results of functional prostate MRI detects high-risk prostate cancer in patients with previous negative biopsy and increased PSA - a pilot study.

BACKGROUND/AIM Patients with previous negative transrectal ultrasound-guided biopsy (TRUS-GB) and persistently increased prostate-specific antigen (PSA) value represent a great diagnostic problem. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-guided biopsy demonstrates high prostate cancer detection rates in these patients if functional MRI is suspicious for prostate cancer. However, MRI-guided biopsy is no...
